We are celebrating our one year anniversary of our Multi-Disciplinary Tours. These are designed to provide staff doing a portfolio the opportunity to fulfil a key part of the HCPC standards of proficiency required for registration, and to understand what it means to be working as part of Pathology.
Our Pathology Education Facilitator, Vee Shangazhike, said:
“It’s hard to believe it’s been a year already. We’re grateful to the teams who have been generous with their time and shared their expertise. These tours have bridged gaps between departments, fostering a sense of unity and collaboration. Staff from different pathology specialties have gained insights into the diverse functions within our labs, enabling them to appreciate the intricate and vital work performed by their colleagues.
“Overall, these tours have been a resounding success. We look forward to continuing this initiative and building on the positive impact it has had in the coming years.”
Our Training and Development Manager, Janki Kavi, reported that students who underwent the very first tour had come back with a higher standard of work and greater confidence in their role, with some going on to be interested in developing in a different discipline to what they had initially trained in.
Overall, our Multi-Disciplinary Tours have fast-tracked students’ knowledge and understanding of what it means to be a Scientist.
Here’s to another year of successful Multi-Disciplinary Tours!
