Anti-Phospholipase A2 Receptor Antibody (anit-PLA2R)

Category Immunology
Test background

The anti-PLA2R (IgG) antibody assay is a quantitative enzyme immunoassay (ELISA) for the in vitro measurement of IgG antibodies targeted against the M-type-phospholipase A2 receptor (PLA2R) on renal podocytes in patient sera.

Clinical Indications

The anti-PLA2R test is useful in the diagnosis and monitoring of primary membranous glomerulonephritis

Anti-PLA2R antibodies are positive in 75-80% of cases of primary membranous glomerulonephritis.

There is also evidence that levels of anti-PLA2R autoantibodies correlate well with disease activity and progression
