Category | Immunology |
---|---|
Test background |
This test detects antibodies against a group of antigens in the nucleus and cytoplasm. ENA antibodies are useful in classifying clinical subsets of connective tissue diseases. The screen includes: anti-Ro52 and anti-Ro60 (SS-A), anti-La (SS-B) antibodies seen in Sjögren’s syndrome and SLE; anti-Sm antibody specific for SLE; anti-ribonucleoprotein (RNP) antibodies seen in mixed connective tissue disease; anti-Jo-1 antibody seen in myositis and anti-synthetase syndrome; anti-Scl-70 (topoisomerase-1) antibody seen in scleroderma; anti-centromere B antibodies seen in limited (cutaneous) scleroderma and ribosomal P antibodies associated with neuropsychiatric lupus. |
