Gastric parietal cell antibodies

Test background

Tested as part of LKS screen. GPC antibodies are seen in association with autoimmune gastritis and pernicious anaemia. All positive samples will be tested for presence of antibodies to intrinsic factor. Suggest also measure vitamin B12 levels.

Clinicial Indications

Pernicious anaemia (PA) Atrophic gastritis Present in the early stages of PA, frequently diminishing with disease progression.
