The Cobas® Trichomonas vaginalis (TV) assay is a qualitative in vitro diagnostic test, that utilizes real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR), for the direct detection of TV DNA in male and female urine, clinician-instructed self-collected vaginal swab specimens, clinician-collected vaginal swab specimens, endocervical swab specimens, clinician-instructed self-collected meatal swab specimens, clinician-collected meatal swab specimens, all collected in cobas® PCR media (Roche Molecular Systems, Inc.).

Sample volume 10 ml if sending urine, refer to instructions on the collection kits
Sample container Genital swab/urine in Roche Cobas® yellow top collection tube
Sample collection

Refer to notes section for collecting samples for molecular testing.

Transport storage Send to the lab for testing without delay, store in the fridge if samples are not sent on the day of collection.
Turnaround time 5 days
