Tyrosine Phosphatase/ Insulinoma-associated Antigen 2 (Anti-IA2 ELISA)

Test background

Insulinoma-associated antigen 2 (IA2) - detected in 50-70% of children and 30-50% adults with a newly apparent diabetes mellitus type 1, levels decline with increasing age.
In persons without diabetes, they have a high predictive value for the individual risk of type 1 diabetes. IA2 antibodies are most frequent in patients with HLA DR4/HLA DQ8 genotype.
