Acetoacetate is a ketone body derived from fatty acid metabolism that accumulates in carbohydrate deficient states and in diabetic ketoacidosis.

Clinicial Indications

Investigation of hypoglycaemia in suspected fatty acid oxidation defects and ketoacidosis.
