Test background |
C1q is a sub compartment of the initiating C1 complex of the classical pathway of complement activation. Antibodies to C1q are found in hypocomplementemic urticarial vasculitis syndrome (HUVS), infection associated vasculitis and in a variety of autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid vasculitis, SLE, polyarteritis nodosa, giant cell arteritis, Behcet’s disease and cryoglobulinaemia. In lupus nephritis C1q antibody titres correlate with disease activity. This test is performed by ELISA |
