Digoxin

Digoxin is administered for the treatment of heart failure in addition to supraventricular arrhythmias (particularly atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter).

Clinical Indications

Therapeutic drug monitoring Suspected toxicity caution: low potassium (diuretics), thyroid disease, renal impairment or recent myocardial infarction. Contraindicated in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, intermittent heart-block, ventricular tachycardia

Reference range

Normal: 0.5-2.0 μg/L
Target range in heart failure: 0.5-1.0 μg/L
