Test background

eGFR is calculated by the CKD-EPI equation and is reported automatically on creatinine requests for all patient 18 years and over.
It should not be used for inpatients as they may not be sufficiently metabolically stable, for children under 18 years, in pregnancy, in patients with malnourishment or muscle loss nor acute renal failure or oedematous. Caution should be used in adults with extremes of muscle mass or who consume protein supplements.

Suspected and monitoring of established chronic renal failure.

Stage 1 ≥90 mL/min/1.73 m2
Stage 2 60-89 mL/min/1.73 m2
Stage 3 30-59 mL/min/1.73 m2
Stage 4 15-29 mL/min/1.73 m2
Stage 5 <15 mL/min/1.73 m2
