Test background |
HLA typing at medium/low resolution typing for HLA-DQA1, -DQB1, -DRB345 is performed using PCR-SSO. This technique is primarily used for the HLA typing of solid organ patients and donors. |
Clinical Indications |
HLA typing at HLA-DQA1, -DQB1, -DRB345 alongside high resolution NGS HLA typing allows for a full HLA typing result to be achieved for solid organ patients and donors. HLA typing alongside HLA antibody detection techniques allows full HLA compatibility to be determined for solid organ patients and their prospective donors. |
Reference range | An HLA tissue typing report will be provided. |
Sample volume | Minimum - 4 mL |
Sample container | 4mL Whole Blood – EDTA (lavender top) 2x Buccal swabs (swab kit to be requested from laboratory for required HSCT patients and donors) |
Transport storage | Samples must be sent by courier. |
Turnaround time | Renal/ pancreas patients and donors -30 days |
Notes | Samples must be sent via first class post or courier. The laboratory is accredited for this test by the European Federation of Immunogenetics (EFI) and UKAS for HLA typing using EDTA samples and buccal swabs.
