Clinical Indications

Detection of measles virus in respiratory samples

Sample & container required Mouth swabs, throat swabs or nasopharyngeal aspirates
Sample volume 400 µL
Sample container Yellow top swabs Cobas PCR media or viral transport media (VTM)
Sample collection

Mouth swabs, throat swabs or nasopharyngeal aspirates can be used for
PCR if collected within 6 days of the onset of rash.
These should be collected by a health care professional.

Turnaround time 3 days
