---|---|
Test background |
TSPO genotype is determined with the use of TaqMan Fast-PCR genotyping assays which are specifically designed to distinguish between nucleotides G and A at position c.439 of the TSPO gene. Note: as this is currently a research-only test, please contact the laboratory prior to sending samples (dbSNP: rs6971). To enquire about TSPO research testing, please contact the Imperial Pathology feasibility team on [email protected]. Once the TSPO testing is registered as a research test with the Imperial Pathology feasibility team, please contact the SIHMDS Laboratory for a TSPO request form directly on [email protected]. |
Clinical Indications |
TSPO genotyping testing is for predictive testing of binding affinity to second-generation radioligands for patients undergoing Positron Emission Tomography. |
Reference range | Not applicable. |
Sample & container required | 2 – 5ml of appropriately labelled EDTA peripheral blood. If sending DNA, please send the minimum volume of 10µL DNA at a preferred concentration of 20ng/µL. Please note that heparinised blood is not suitable as heparin anticoagulant is difficult to remove from DNA preparations and can inhibit the PCR reaction. |
Sample volume | 2 – 5ml of appropriately labelled EDTA peripheral blood or 10µL DNA. |
Sample container | As above. |
Turnaround time | 14 calendar days |
Notes | The laboratory is not UKAS accredited for this test. |
