In October 2020 Dan Pelling, Site Manager at St Mary’s, delivered Abbott’s first global webinar titled ‘The Art and Science of Haematology Morphology’.
This webinar had been 6 months in the making and was a collaboration between Abbott, Labroots and Dan with a view to providing a truly international learning opportunity for haematology scientists and clinicians worldwide.
The webinar consisted of a 45 minute discussion looking at all aspects of haematology morphology from understanding why we look at blood films to how to validate or verify changes to services and assess the quality of such changes. The final 15 minutes was a Q&A session that was streamed live.
It was the most subscribed-to webinar that Abbott have ever hosted and has since seen incredible numbers of people accessing it for review. Feedback from online groups and via social media platforms has rated the webinar very highly which confirms that it met its overarching goal of reaching the science communities far and wide.
Due to the success of the webinar Dan and Abbot are currently discussing further proposals which may include producing and delivering educational material focusing on haematology and morphology – a journey that we are very much looking forward to. Click here to access the basic webinar
