The laboratory is a designated Supra-Regional Assay Service (SAS) provider for calcitonin, insulin, C-peptide and gastrointestinal hormones (Gut Hormones). The laboratory also provides a service for a number of steroid and peptide hormones, and binding proteins to hospitals in and aroundLondon. Techniques available include automated and manual immunoassay and LCMS.

The laboratory staff are involved in both teaching and research activities; particular areas of interest include reproductive hormones, vitamin D, and calcium metabolism and assay development. Details of the assays available to external laboratories may be found on Assayfinder.
